The Regional Institute of Information and Knowledge Management organises and hosts the African Knowledge Management Congress biennially. The Institute also hosts an annual Doctoral Research Forum for doctoral candidates pursuing courses in the broad areas of information and knowledge management. These forums are facilitated by eminent information and knowledge management scholars and are aimed at helping the PhD candidates to strengthen their research projects.

Offer consultancy services in the broad areas of information and knowledge management Conduct short professional courses in the broad areas of information and knowledge management Provide direct information and knowledge management services; develop and promote information and knowledge management products, tools and techniques Conduct and report research in information and knowledge management through conferences, journals and other publications Promote the development and advancement of the information and knowledge management profession Liaise, collaborate and partner with the relevant stakeholders in supporting the professionalization of information and knowledge management in Kenya and beyond.
