Bonded in the Silence: A Reylo Fanfiction

My earliest memory is pain. Pain of losing a mother, pain of losing the love of a father, pain from the isolation that happened after the incident. I am reminded by others that what happened on that day was an accident and it wasn't my fault, but deep down I know what truly happened and so does my father and brothers. The deep self-anger and self-hate I have was slowly consuming me until I was taken away by General Organa and the Resistance. My life was beginning to look brighter, until the day I was kidnapped by the First Order. This is where my story neither begins nor ends. This is when my story becomes dark, so dark that even a Sith Lord would tremble in fear. I don't own the Star Wars universe (duh) but I do own the main character and those that are not from SW. There will be spoilers, but the storyline might diverge a bit from the original plot from the films.

"When I offer you my hand again, you'll take it." What if Kylo Ren had been right? What if Rey had taken Kylo Ren's hand when he offered it the second time, deciding her best chance at defeating Palpatine and saving the galaxy was with him? But can the two of them overcome their differences and mistrust of each other to accomplish that task or will pride win out? And then there is a certain group of meddling Force Ghosts determined to test them to their fullest. Meanwhile, Finn has a destiny of his own to fulfill chasing visions of his past across the galaxy. Poe buries himself in work as he tries to forget his failures and forge ahead. Leia attempts to cement her legacy and ensure the future of the galaxy. This fanfic explores a different ending to TROS starting at about the halfway point, when Kylo reveals the truth about Rey in the hangar. It will focus mainly on their story but there will be significant plot arcs that focus on Finn, Poe, Leia, and others. There will be a few augmentations to the earlier story, but I have tried to stay true to the plot up until this point, except for the 16 hr deadline Palpatine gave them. His threat was open ended in my version. In the meanwhile, the Force bond between Rey and the new Supreme Leader not only continues but grows. They begin to be able to see one another's surroundings, touch things... and as the bond grows, so does their relationship. Mutual distrust becomes begrudging acceptance. Then a strange sort of friendship. And then... well... ;) Post TLJ Reylo fanfic; VERY Rey/Ben centric; will focus almost exclusively on times when the bond brings them together; A VERY patient slow burn that devotes a lot of time to character development. Rey, an abandoned nobody, fought side by side with the powerful Kylo Ren. She saw a future in him, a redemption of Ben Solo. She believed it, and a part of her still does Kylo Ren, Ben Solo, the son of a Skywalker and the grandson of Darth Vader, turned to the dark side by the never calm conflict within him. He killed his own Supreme Leader for the scavenger girl, but now it seems the girl has no more faith in Ben Solo and he is lost. After the Battle of Crait, Rey shut the door on the new Supreme Leader Kylo Ren. Only days before, she was sure that she could bring back Ben Solo, but now, shes not so sure anymore. She's lost faith in him, she believes her vision was only a vision. But she just can't seem to forget the look in his eyes when he fought by her, when he killed his Supreme Leader, when he understood her after the dark cave consumed her. She can't seem to forget him. Then there's Resistance pilot Poe Dameron. Rey hardly knows him and yet now she's strongly captivated by him, drawn to him by an aura that feels so positive and so warm and welcome. But he has a hatred for Ben Solo that is unexplained, and Rey fears that her friendship with Poe will prevent her from bringing Ben home. Who will Rey choose?
